The first semester of our existance, the fall of 1997, has officially ended and we feel it has been a success and a blessing--even tho it was not a full semester. We successfully completed orientation (November 7, 1997, Friday), was welcomed/inducted into the family of Gamma Phi Delta Christian Fraternity Inc. November 12, 1997 Wednesday, by national president Kelvin James (one of the original founders of G-Phi-D), have been presented with the national T-shirt of G-Phi-D and have begun making ourselves known on Grambling State University's campus. I find it intriguing, as I look back over the semester past, that all of this started with Tim, now the Charter Chapter President, telling a handful of us that there was an interest meeting for a Christian fraternity on October 14, 1997, Tueseday. None of us, not even Tim who told us about it, knew the name of the fraternity or what the fraternity. or interest meeting was about. All we knew was that this was something new and something Christian, thus we stepped out on faith, couriosity and intriguement. A little over a dozen showed up, as the final count for the interest meeting went. It would be seen and shown later that of those that showed up for the interest meeting, only about 5 would actually remain faithful and dedicated to cross and complete the orientation process. The others either quit coming to the meetings or did not show up at all after the interest meeting. It would also be seen and shown that others would later come; however, only a handful of them would actually cross and complete the orientation process. In the end, we crossed the finish line of the orientation process and was inducted in with a blessed number of eight (8).
