On October 14, 1997, Tuesday--at around 8:35PM in the lobby of a men's dorm called Drew Hall--it was decided that there would be a "line" during the fall semester of 1997 at Grambling State University, for the establishment of a new chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Christian Fraternity Inc. This chapter would be the seventh chapter of the fraternity, the first chapter of that fraternity established in the state of Louisiana, and that this chapter would be called Eta Judges Chapter (the seventh Greek letter + the sevent book in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible). During the interest meeting, it was also decided to elect the core administrative officers to get the new chapter on its way and to allow it to begin developing by itself--according to God's Will--both individually and as part of the Christian Fraternity brotherhood. Thus it was done and the skeleton of this new chapter began to be formed. "Can these bones live...?" These are words that come to mymind when I think of Eta Judges Chapter being formed here on GSU's campus. These words represent the unspoken challenge issued to the Charter Members of Eta Judges Chapter as we etablish a new Chapter of a new Christian organization on a campus such as Grambling's. The positions filled were the primary positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Ass. Tres., Secretary and Ass. Sec. That following morning, October 15, 1997, Wednesday, at about 6:40am, prayer was held in the lobby of Drew Hall--one of the male dorms on GSU's campus. It was also on this very morning that the Lord blessed us to meet a man by the name of Claude A. Carruthers (Officer Carruthers) who is one of the campus police officers......he became our Chapter Advisor. During this meeting much was discussed concerning the establishment of this chapter, however; due to mid-term exams, this was the only day we met that week. On October 19, 1997, Sunday, the begining of that following week, at 3:00pm in the room of Timothy Rodgers (Charter Chapter President) the charter line of Eta Judges Chapter--later labled as "The Faithful Few Charter Line"--officially began.
